Nvidia, a leading technology company in the field of artificial intelligence and graphics processing, has recently announced the launch of its latest humanoid robot base model, Isaac GR00T N1.5. This groundbreaking release signifies a significant step forward for Nvidia in the development of robotics infrastructure, with CEO Jensen Huang stating that this model will become the "core building block of the next industrial revolution."
One of the standout features of the GR00T N1.5 model is its remarkable improvement in training efficiency. Traditional humanoid robot models typically require nearly three months to complete data collection. However, with the new GR00T-Dreams tool, the time to generate synthetic data can be reduced to just 36 hours. This transformative development helps address the data bottleneck issues that humanoid robots face during their development process.
The working principle of GR00T-Dreams is quite ingenious. The tool first fine-tunes a specific robot and, based on the Cosmos Predict world model, can generate demonstration videos for multi-environment tasks with just a single image. It then extracts "motion tokens" for training. This "AI generates AI training data" approach allows robots to learn new behaviors without relying on time-consuming and labor-intensive physical testing, greatly enhancing development efficiency.
In real-world testing, the N1.5 model has shown significant improvements in adapting to new environments, workspace configurations, and instruction recognition. Industry leaders such as Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics, and Foxconn have already integrated with the NVIDIA Isaac platform to fully leverage this new technology. To support development needs, Nvidia also launched the Cosmos Reason world model and Isaac Sim5.0 open-source simulation tool in tandem, and partnered with companies like Cisco and Dell to introduce the RTX PRO6000 workstation.
