Revolutionizing AI-Enhanced Search: Google's Global Expansion and New Features

  • 3 min read

Google is taking a significant step forward in the realm of AI-powered search by launching a global expansion of AI Mode, a feature that allows users to ask complex questions and follow-ups to delve deeper into a topic directly within Search. This move marks a major milestone in the company's ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and provide more personalized, agentic capabilities.

Revolutionizing AI-Enhanced Search: Google's Global Expansion and New Features

Previously limited to users in the U.S., U.K., and India, AI Mode is now being rolled out to 180 new countries, with plans to expand to more languages and regions in the near future. This expansion will enable a broader user base to benefit from the advanced capabilities of AI Mode, which is designed to provide more accurate and relevant search results based on individual preferences and interests.

One of the key new features being introduced is the ability to find restaurant reservations directly through AI Mode. Users can specify their preferences, such as party size, date, time, location, and cuisine type, and AI Mode will search across various reservation platforms to find real-time availability for matching restaurants. It then presents a curated list of options for users to choose from, streamlining the process of finding the perfect dining spot.

This new capability is initially being made available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. through an experiment conducted by Google Labs, the company's experimental arm. AI Ultra is Google's highest-end plan, priced at $249.99 per month.

In addition to the new agentic features, Google is also tailoring search results to individual users' preferences and interests. The tech giant is starting with dining-related topics and using past conversations, search history, and clicks on Search and Maps to offer more relevant suggestions. For instance, if AI Mode deduces that a user prefers Italian food and outdoor seating, it will prioritize results that cater to these preferences.

Users have the option to adjust their personalization settings in their Google Account to ensure that AI Mode provides search results that align with their unique preferences and interests.

Another innovative feature being introduced is the ability to share and collaborate with others using AI Mode. A new "Share" button allows users to send AI Mode responses to others, enabling them to join the conversation and collaborate on tasks such as planning a trip or a birthday party.

As Google continues to evolve and enhance AI Mode, user feedback plays a crucial role in shaping its development. By providing insights and feedback through TechCrunch and other coverage and events, users can help guide the future direction of AI Mode and contribute to its ongoing improvement.

To share your perspective and feedback, consider filling out a survey to let Google know how they're doing and potentially win a prize in return. This collaboration between users and the tech giant is essential in ensuring that AI Mode continues to meet the evolving needs of its diverse user base and remains at the forefront of AI-powered search technology.
